First, let’s all take a deep breath.
There’s enough mom guilt in the world to suffocate us if we let it. The truth is, your baby is happy, fed, and thriving because they have a present, loving mother—you. We are all doing the best we can with what we know. So before diving into alternatives, give yourself grace. Be proud of the fact that you’re even willing to look at the hard stuff, even if it means questioning or changing what you once believed. That takes courage.
Why I Steer Clear of Tylenol
One of the main reasons I personally avoid Tylenol (acetaminophen) is because of its effect on glutathione—the body’s master antioxidant. Glutathione is essential for detoxification, cellular repair, and immune defense. Tylenol rapidly depletes it, which means that while the body is already working hard to fight off illness, we’re stripping away one of its strongest natural defenses.
Suppressing symptoms—like fever, which is meant to protect and heal—may actually prolong illness or weaken the immune system over time.
Don’t Fear the Fever
We’ve been conditioned to fear the number on the thermometer more than the health of the child in front of us. But here’s the truth:
If you treat every fever over 101°F, you’re never giving the body a chance to strengthen its capabilities. Fever is the immune system’s “training ground.” By always suppressing it, you rob the body of the opportunity to build resilience.
Personally, I don’t treat anything under 103.5°F.
Instead, I focus on how my child is acting, not just the number on the thermometer.
If she is lethargic, listless, or clearly struggling, I’ll step in with more active supports.
If she's alert, playful, or simply needing more cuddles, I allow the fever to do its job.
Supporting a slightly uncomfortable fever—like 102°F—often helps long-term immune strength far more than rushing to medicate. Support over suppression.
Remember: heat strokes don’t happen from high fevers, but from rapid rises in temperature.
Natural Fever & Illness Support
Here are my favorite ways to work with the body instead of against it:
1. Warm Baths
A body-temp bath helps regulate temperature and calm the nervous system. I often add:
Magnesium flakes (immune and relaxation support)
Bentonite clay (to gently draw out toxins)
Peppermint, lavender or eucalyptus oil (cooling, and respiratory relief)
Rowe Casa's Sickness Recovery bath salt blend
2. The Cold Sock Method
A classic naturopathic tool:
Soak thin cotton socks in ice water, wring them out, and put them on the feet.
Place dry wool socks over the wet ones.
As the body works to warm the socks, circulation and lymphatic flow are stimulated, helping regulate fever and support immune function.
3. Onion & Garlic Remedies
Onion plates: Place cut onions in the room to absorb bacteria and toxins from the air.
Onion socks: Place slices of raw onion in socks on the bottoms of the feet to help “pull out” bacteria.
Onion soup: A soothing, mineral-rich comfort food that supports hydration and immune function.
Goot: garlic oil ointment treatment, on the feet for systemic benefits, on the chest, throat or wherever needs attention.
4. Hydration & Skin-to-Skin
Hydration: Offer plenty of clean water, broth, and clean electrolytes. Water alone isn’t always enough—minerals matter.
Skin-to-skin: Regulates temperature naturally and provides comfort, calm, and immune-boosting connection.

Pregnancy-Safe Alternatives
Pregnant women have been told Tylenol is the only safe option for years—but knowing what we know about glutathione depletion, it’s worth exploring alternatives.
Homeopathy & Gentle Support
Arnica – for pain, soreness, or body aches

Nux Vomica, Chamomilla, Pulsatilla – gentle support for nausea, irritability, or congestion
Electrolytes – essential for hydration and energy, especially during nausea or fatigue

Other Helpful Remedies for Pain, Sinus, & Cramps
I also lean on specific natural tools like these:

💧 Essential oils – peppermint, lavender, eucalyptus, frankincense, rosemary (diffused or applied for pain, stress, and respiratory support)
Healing isn’t only about remedies—it’s also about long-term environment and habits:
Limit inflammatory foods (gluten, dairy, refined sugar, MSG, processed foods).
Track triggers with a headache/illness diary.
Support with B vitamins.
Manage stress through deep breathing, prayer, gratitude, grounding, and rest.
Wear blue-light glasses during screen use and prioritize 7–9 hours of sleep.
Remove toxins like fragrance, pesticides, BPA, and phthalates.
The explosion of autism, ADHD, and chronic illness isn’t from one single cause—it’s the perfect storm of:
The rise in injections beginning in the 1990s
Toxic overload in food, products, and environment
Over-reliance on medications like Tylenol that suppress symptoms and deplete glutathione
Genes load the gun, environment pulls the trigger.
The best protection is a proactive, clean lifestyle: whole foods, non-toxic products, rest, and remedies that support the body instead of silencing it.
Mama, remember:
Your presence and intuition are the most powerful medicine.
You don’t have to fear your child’s body.
You have tools—gentle, natural tools—to support healing.
