Top 5 Functional Wellness Tools That Changed My Health

Updated: Sep 8

In a world full of symptom-chasing and quick fixes, I’ve learned that true healing comes from supporting your body’s design—not fighting against it. Functional wellness isn’t about perfection; it’s about intentionally choosing what helps your body function the way it was made to—clearing waste, restoring energy, balancing hormones, and regulating your nervous system.

Over the years, through my own journey and by working with many clients as a functional medicine certified health coach, I’ve discovered a few tools that have made a noticeable, tangible impact across the board. These aren’t trendy gadgets, but foundational support I turn to repeatedly to promote holistic healing.

Here are five of the most powerful functional wellness tools I’ve added to my routine—and why I recommend them too almost everyone:

Healing Tools for Enhanced Wellness

🔴 1. Red Light Therapy Panel (*Bon Charge MAX)*

red light therapy

Let’s start with the obvious game-changer: red light therapy. I use my Bon Charge full-body panel every morning—it’s more than just a light. It’s cellular restoration. The red and near-infrared wavelengths support:

  • Mitochondrial energy production

  • Hormone and thyroid support

  • Muscle and joint recovery

  • Skin healing and collagen production

  • Nervous system regulation

This tool is science-backed (6,000+ studies), safe, and simple. My daily sessions give me noticeable energy, better skin tone, and more hormonal balance without medication. I also use a handheld device on my toddler during illness and a face mask for evening skin healing.

Castor oil packs are one of the most underrated detox tools. This ancient practice promotes circulation and supports drainage of the liver, lymph, and digestive tract. When you choose a quality brand, paired with heat, castor oil:

  • Reduces inflammation

  • Enhances bile flow

  • Relieves constipation

  • Supports hormone balance (especially estrogen detox)

I use a compress over my liver 2–3 nights per week before bed, particularly during my luteal phase or whenever I feel sluggish or inflamed. It’s deeply grounding and incredibly effective when used consistently.

Movement is medicine—but sometimes we need extra help stimulating the lymphatic and circulatory systems, particularly on low-energy days. That’s where my vibration plate comes in. Just 5-10 minutes a day can help:

  • Move lymphatic fluid (especially in stagnant legs and feet)

  • Increase blood flow and oxygen

  • Support bone density and strength

  • Wake up the nervous system in a calm, parasympathetic way

It’s my favorite detoxification support tool. It's a great option for anyone with limited mobility who can’t always do high-impact movement but still needs fluid stimulation.

detox magnesium bath

I can’t overstate the power of a magnesium-rich bath. As one of the most common deficiencies in the U.S., magnesium is critical for functions such as:

  • Relaxation and stress regulation

  • Hormone production

  • Muscle recovery

  • Blood sugar balance

  • Detoxification

I relax with Ancient Minerals magnesium flakes (and occasionally bentonite clay) for an intentional detox bath twice a week. This not only soothes my nervous system but also helps to draw out toxins through the skin—our largest detox organ. I sleep deeper and feel significantly calmer afterward.

Sweating isn’t just for the gym; it’s one of your body’s most intelligent detox pathways. I use infrared sauna therapy several times a week to support my liver, lymph, and mitochondrial health on a deeper level.

Some of the biggest benefits I’ve experienced include:

  • Reduction in inflammation and joint pain

  • Enhanced detox with consistently open elimination pathways

  • Glowing skin with fewer breakouts

  • Nervous system support and activation of the parasympathetic system

Sauna sessions also stimulate heat shock proteins, promoting cellular repair and resilience. I love to pair my sauna time with mineralized hydration and sometimes a cold rinse for contrast therapy.

The Journey to Healing

Healing doesn’t happen in one appointment or with one supplement. It occurs through consistency, intention, and using tools that work with your body, not against it. These five wellness tools have transformed my life, energy, and health from the inside out. They are essential components of the personalized plans I use with my clients.

If you’re ready to take a root-cause, low-tox approach to your wellness, let’s talk. Whether you're navigating hormone imbalance, fatigue, gut issues, or simply want to feel good again—I’m here to guide you through with a 1:1 consultation or 3-month realignment program.

Your body is capable of amazing things. These tools just help to remind it.

Bonus: Intentional Breathwork + Nervous System Support

None of these tools will work effectively if your nervous system is stuck in survival mode. That’s why I prioritize daily practices like breathwork, prayer, grounding, and moments of stillness. Your body can’t heal if it doesn't feel safe.
