A Nighttime Self-Care Routine for the Minimalist Wellness Girl

Updated: Jun 24

Let’s face it—most of us are running on empty. Pouring into everyone else while putting ourselves last. And even with the best intentions, the idea of “self-care” can start to feel like just another task on the to-do list.

But here’s the truth: you weren’t made to operate on autopilot. You were made to feel grounded, nourished, and whole. This is your reminder that self-care doesn’t need to be expensive or complicated—it just needs to be intentional.

Sauna: My Non-Negotiable

I slip into my sauna blanket 4–7 nights a week, and it’s one of the best things I’ve done for my nervous system, skin, and mind. Around the world, sauna culture is deeply woven into daily life—from Finland to Japan to Turkey. These countries prioritize heat therapy as a core pillar of wellness, and science backs them up.

Regular sauna use:

  • Supports cellular detoxification

  • Enhances circulation and mitochondrial function

  • Boosts immune resilience

  • Promotes deep relaxation and better sleep

It’s not just a luxury—it’s a health habit that moves the needle.

Skin Care: 5 Minutes, No Fuss

I keep it simple and effective:

  1. Cleanser

  2. Toner

  3. AHA + HT serum or rose oil + gua sha

On most nights, I reach for my AHA + HT serum, a minimalist powerhouse. It pairs gentle exfoliating AHAs with hydroxytyrosol, one of nature’s most potent antioxidants.

Benefits include-- diminishing blemishes, elasticity and circulation, refines pores, brightens, locks in moisture, stimulates collagen. When I want something softer, I go with the rose oil and a quick 2-minute gua sha to release tension + boost lymphatic flow.

  1. Corrective eye and face cream for cell rejuvenation all night.

Weekly Rituals I Crave

  • F10 Physical Exfoliant — think the 2000s apricot scrub, but clean and upgraded paired with a Soothing Matcha Face Mask

  • Red Light Therapy Mask – 3x a week, often during sauna sessions with a good book

  • Magnesium Salt Bath – once a week using Ancient Minerals (not Dr. Teal’s—those synthetic fragrances are a hormone disruption waiting to happen)

  • Full-body Stretching – 3x a week, a game-changer I didn’t expect to love

And Sometimes, It’s Just a Cup of Tea

Self-care doesn’t always look like face masks and salt baths. Sometimes it’s a quiet moment alone with a warm mug and a good book. Sometimes it’s journaling. Or even silence.

For me, it also looks like spending time with Jesus. If that resonates with you, I can’t recommend The Bible in a Year enough. The simple structure has helped me dive deeper in my faith without overwhelm. And that connection? It grounds everything else.

Self-Care Isn’t Extra—

It’s Essential

Whether it’s heat, skincare, scripture, or salt—it’s not about perfection. It’s about choosing small, nourishing moments that help you return to yourself so you’re not just showing up for everyone else. You’re refilling your own cup first—so you can pour from a place of authenticity, not exhaustion.

Because that’s where real wellness begins.
